Special Event – Epidemiology Conference, Denver

Faculty from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases will present a comprehensive review of immunization principles, as well as vaccine-preventable diseases and the recommended vaccines to prevent them. The 2.5 day course will feature the most up-to-date immunization information from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). A Colorado Update will be presented by local immunization experts on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 11.

The course is designed for anyone seeking the most comprehensive and current knowledge of immunization, including physicians, nurses, medical assistants, pharmacists, immunization providers, program managers, and nursing and medical students. These classes provide LPNs with an opportunity to expand their nursing roles by learning appropriate procedures for intravenous therapy and venous blood withdrawal. IV Refresher Course

Refine your skills and brush up on IV methodologies. Intravenous (IV) therapy is the process of putting fluids or medications into patients through a vein. Instructors demonstrate how to insert IVs into patients’ arms, how to connect IVs to machines such as volumetric pumps and analgesia devices controlled by the patient, and how to monitor peripheral and central lines. *Note: This class does not result in certification.*

Wound Care management Course

Wound healing is a dynamic and complex process that requires suitable environment to promote healing process. This course will cover the basic principles and management strategies of various wounds. Nursing assistants are often the first members of the health care team to notice a change in a patient’s or resident’s skin that could be the beginning of a pressure ulcer.
