OVERVIEW
Career Counseling is the gateway to services provided by the Education Fund. Employees meet in one-on-one sessions with an Education Fund Career Counselor to:
- Identify and assess skills, interests, and abilities
- Establish employee-centered career and education goals
- Develop an individualized Education and Training Plan
GETTING STARTED
Obtaining career counseling can be as simple as asking a quick question through an email to scheduling a phone or office appointment. Counselors can connect you with tutoring, financial aid resources and Education Fund Programs such as our Professional Development, Career Preparation and Career Counseling Workshops.
CAREER COUNSELING WORKSHOPS - 2010
Providing the resources and skills for healthcare workers looking to move up the career ladder. The following two-hour sessions are planned for both Northern and Southern California:
- Exploring your Career Path: Which job is the best match for your skills, interests, values and lifestyle? Learn about yourself, healthcare jobs in high demand and the steps to making a career change.
- Career Panel: Panelists share how they successfully transitioned into higher-paying jobs.
- How to Pay for School: Financial Aid, Employer Resources, and Money Management: Review money management tips for stretching your dollars while you are in school and financial aids options available to you from your employer, the Education Fund and your union.
- Successful Job Transition Strategies: Build the confidence you need to present yourself to prospective employers. Practice proven interview techniques and review resume writing.
- Nursing School: What Everyone Should Know: Learn the necessary steps for preparing and applying to nursing programs! Whether you’re interested in an RN, LVN-RN, or BSN program, find out what you need to do to improve your chances of being accepted into an accredited school.
